After having PS2/DCS for years (many years not used!) I got tired of hitting that stinking SWS softkey! It is the Train Wreck, and I hate it. Shuts down the engine afterward, not much use to me, and a pain. (To each his own: I had a dealer tell me it was his favorite button!)
So, I have started to edit/orient my softkeys. I found that someone had created a list for a BigBoy, and I modified it in Excel. I have done two of my engines so far, and created a master template from her list. I needed to add, edit, or delete some for the two engines I have done, but I have the first 10 keys, the way I want them, and the ones that follow the MORE button, in the order I want them.
Some engines I plan to have the extended start up, or the forward signal or the "All aboard" show up early, while moving the track signal, odometer, and other items to the bottom of the list, since I find myself not using them very often if ever. Then, I delete items I do not want that engine to use. Cab lights off, is one I find no need for! I paid to get them, I want them on all the time the engine is running!
If anyone wants to do the same for your own engine (yes, I realize that there are NOT that many of us still using the remote, many like the phone/ipad deal) and would like a copy of the xls master sheet, contact me and I will send it to you. It will save you some time. A list is not needed much, but it helps if you ever have to reset the engine - easy to put the keys in your order again.
