While I'm not a formal operator, I do enjoy doing mini-ops on my layout with my sons and friends. Last night, my 10-year old and I were doing some operations and I decided to record some of it. He's operating the train. I love that my boys enjoy being part of the hobby and sharing it with me.

Enjoyed the video. Great scenic elements and loved the way it was done at a scale speed. I watch a lot of videos  of operating sessions. Mostly in HO and all the switching moves seem rushed. Maybe to stay ahead of the fast clock. One of my favorite o scale layouts is Don Smith’s B&O layout. Your layout reminds me of his except yours is in the steam era.

Thank you, Dave. I’ll have to check out Don Smith’s. I haven’t seen it.

There are, of course, a variety of ways to set up operating scenarios for layouts. I would LOVE to have some of you operators out there document the process/procedures you use for creating operating sessions for your layouts and describe them in as much detail as possible for articles in the magazine, and, if/when possible, document them as videos that might be suitable for our new YouTube channel.
