After looking at the #14 RMT Email 24 hour sale for probably 10 times in the 24 hrs I ordered the NYC A-A-B Beef diesel set.  I've been looking at the Beefs and Beeps for a while now and couldn't pass up the deal.  I'm mostly steam, but after re-reading the threads on everyones satisfaction with RMT and seeing how Walter responds on the threads and by phone I placed the order.  Now I'm anxiously awaiting its delivery.  The only thing that bothers me is a comment on one of the threads that said.. "they are like Lay's potato chips, you can't have just one"!

Very true.  RMT locos are "different," a lot of fun, and generally bulletproof although I had two recently-purchased BEEPs die on me (the boards went bad).

And, like you say, you can't buy just one.  I have 24+ BEEPS - some stock but many of them with customized bodies, etc., and a bunch of BEEFs including a wonderful A-B-B-A set which I bashed slightly to make all four units powered and much heavier than normal: eight motors, lots of traction - no waiting!!!.   BANGs are okay, too, but I only have three or four of those: not really that different than the shorter/lower end MTH and Lionel switchers.

I had one area/loop on my layout I call "BEEPWorld": nothing longer than a BEEP or BEEF allowed on it: I cut down (in length) traditional O gauage cars I buy at swap meets to just that length etc., and its the most fun part of my layout.  The length restriction means the only steam I run there is things like Lionel Dockside switchers, but that's fine, too.

"they are like Lay's potato chips, you can't have just one" That phrase is absolutely true. I purchased their bang s-4 which was similar to the k line s2. I must say it pulls more than 20 cars and looks amazing on o-82 curves. It is a pretty fine detailEd engine too. I'm now considering purchasing some beeps

I love my B&O BEEF ABA set.  I know some people are a little put off by the short length, but I find that an actual proto-typical engine looks "off" on my comparatively diminutive sized layout (it is 4x8) and that the BEEFs look right at home with a set of O-27 passenger cars behind them.

RMT does a great job of putting the "Toy" back in Toy Trains.

SeaBilliau...BEEF A-A + B diesels are actually scale HEIGHT and WITH but only shorter. This allows all the neat features of O scale like cab interior, metal grilles, metal railings, moving roof exhaust fans, opening cab doors, fixed front pilot and more.

This way they look better on an 0-27 layout but can 'hold their own' on an 0 gauge pike too.

And yes the word TOY is part of the RMT vocabulary.

Thanks.
