I have lots of remotes and I was looking for a good cheap way to hang them without a lot of custom woodworking. Since I own a train store and a music store, when I saw my guitar hangers I wondered if they would fit.  They fit just fine.

Hangers can be a little pricey so I went online and found some decent cheap ones.  Here is the Link and some pictures of some of my remotes.

Hopefully this might help someone.

Interesting.  Do you have a photo of the Legacy remote hanging too? It's a bit wider than those 2, I believe.

IIRC, it doesn't have quite the obvious defined "shoulders" to catch as the DCS remote or LionChief remotes do.  It definitely is wider at the top than the bottom, so I guess it would probably work, assuming it fits between the prongs.

Good idea!

Crocodile (Train Store) rocks!

Mike, that's a great idea!  I've already put my order in, and appreciate the thread.  For a variety of reasons, I've been adding Lion Chief Plus engines, and have a number of remotes placed for easy access that are cluttering up the front end of several display shelves, partly hiding the locos on display.   Since I have a closet directly behind my transformer table, I can very neatly put these on the wall, and out of site until needed without sacrificing easy access.

Hey John,

I put that big post there so I could have a "Post Office"    - Plus it holds. my roof up

Hi Dennis,

Glad you liked the idea.  I also have lots of Lionchiefs so it works for me.

Laz, I also prefer A BIG RED KNOB instead of thumbwheel TV remote, but what the heck.

I like the computer rack idea for my Legacy station that doesn't hang.

Kudus and thanks to all,

Mike

Hi Allan,

I am honored that the "Chief" -  editor that is,  liked my idea.  I am also amazed at the wealth of knowledge that this community of train enthusiasts possess and share.  Every time a new topic appears I wonder what great insights I will acquire.

There are  2 things that I consider being the best decisions I have made in this hobby.

1. Joining and participating in this Forum

2.  Getting help from Al Judy, my mentor and friend.

I still have to test and photograph the CAb1 in the holder.

Thanks,

Mike

Jim,

Pretty cool also! I'm sure that I should recognize those, but, what are they, and, where did you purchase them, if you recall.  Very handy for the larger remotes.  An oven mitt with pocket?

Looks like they're pot holders with a pocket on one side, padded with loop on the corner for hanging. Most department stores that sells linens/kitchen towels/wash cloths, etc. would carry them., ie. Wallys World. This is a great idea!

Several clever solutions were cited in this thread.  Here's my contribution to "good order" -- 2-inch wide Velcro strips cut and applied to the top portion of LionChief controllers on the backsides.  "Fuzzy" side on the back of the controller, "hook" side on the fascia board.  Nearly invisible when installed - no screws required. The controllers are easily removed, but the Velcro holds them securely.  Kids can do it, and they "know the drill" to put them back - no misplaced or lost controllersl

Not the best photo, but this is what I have.  Not sure what it was originally, but I found it at Goodwill for a ridiculous price, like $5, and it fit perfectly under my layout.  It has two rollout shelves, so my ZW-C and Legacy base live on the bottom rollout and the PH-180s live on the very bottom shelf that doesn't move.  I bought some 1x3s and cut them to make sides for the top rollout shelf to make it a drawer.  Now I can put my rerailer, Legacy modules, and all my remotes there in the drawer.  Everyone knows where they are and where to put them when they are done.  Eventually a power source selector will go on top, and I'll mount DCC command base and boosters on it too.

Her is my solution. first on pictured is the main remote hub when done operating the remotes and tablets are stored here.  the one in the second picture is one of many place around the layout on the fascia for use when operator's need somthing to hold the remote when in an operating session. third photo shows the same fascia holder only with the cab2 remote. the device hanging to the right is my manual uncoupling tool. I placed screws on either side of the holder to hang the tool on. this was done with lefties and righties in mind. the holders are just some clear plexiglass brochure holders. I got a box of them free. I just used my cut off wheel in my dremel to cut out the bottom on the holder to fit the remotes. then just spray painted them. they turned out nice and work great.
