I just received my Lionel 44 and 6544 missile firing cars (6-18462 and 6-26876) both listed as new.  However, when the missiles are fired they only go about a foot before hitting the floor. One would have to position the exploding box car next to it to be hit and explode.  Is this due to weak springs?  How can they be fixed?

  How can they be fixed?

By firing some of the bigger missles at the insurace companies & compensation lawyers 😈

Many springs are actually "common" and have a standardized ID number. I used to have an "old school" hardware store nearby that kept a huge variety.   The family sold it, and they stopped ordering the harder to find stuff not realizing that's what kept the doors open.  If they make it a whole ten years I'll be amazed.
