Hi All,

Inspired by https://ogrforum.com/...onnection-to-the-tiu i wanted to go ahead and attempt to reverse-engineer controlling DCS engines via Wifi, my end goal is to implement this within JMRI so I can use it on my future layout. Today I successfully reverse-engineered some of the commands, and found the command structure to be significantly easier to work with than what I read about the serial commands.

Adding two videos for anyone interested:

Next step is to work on the JMRI part.

Thanks,

Dan

DashingDanLIRR,  I want to start by saying that I'm not tech savvy and that may become very obvious with my question, but could this potentially open up the possibility of using the Iowa Scaled Engineering "Proto Throttle" with MTH locomotives?

unfortunately I'm not sure, while i believe that proto throttle works with JMRI I guess time will tell once I start the integration whether it would be compatible.

My complete assumption is that it should be from a running standpoint, with the MTH stuff the tricky stuff is around detection and assignment of the ID, that might not work via the proto throttle.

Lashups are also another complicated issue as I'd have to read how lashups are done today in JMRI and see if the same methods work for DCS
