Hi Everyone, I have a old MTH Septa PCC 30-2503 which was the first MTH PCC wich had no sound at all. My question is can the floor from a PCC with Proto 2 be switched out to make it a Proto2 ? I noticed in da bay and at train meets PCC cars with PS2 can be had for a pretty reasonable price and as far as the stop announcements being for another city I always have them disabled on my other trolleys anyway so that dosn't matter.

I think you can rebody. Take yours to a show and check post holes, otherwise they are same. You would probably have to move some lights over also. You could than load the upgrade sound file and actually get the Phila stations too. G

Thanks G, I'll do that.
GGG I picked up a old NJ Transit PCC with Proto 2 and swapped the guts with Septa PCC 30-2503 and like you said to switch the lights and it works great. One day I'll download the stops probably from the Brill but until then I'll just run it with the cab chatter shut off.
Glad it worked out. I did a septa upgrade for a guy in NE Philly. Had to have those station stops. G
The destination sign reads 36 Market St. so the stops from the PTC Brill have the correct cross streets.
GGG I have a question. When I tried to rename the car on the remote I get a error message. When I got it, it had the original white battery which I immeaditly replaced with a BCR. Is it necessary to have a regular battery installed and not a BCR when renaming?

Unfortunately, you cannot assign a Custom Name to trolleys or subways (PCC's included). You can, however, have someone with an MTH DCS Service Loader assign a new permanent name to your PCC.
This and a whole lot more is all in “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!" This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at OGR’s web store! |
