Yesterday I went to the AGTTA club meet (as I do every month) and one of the members made me a proposition. I restore a 154 and coaches for him, and I get some stuff in return.

One of those "stuffs" is a Lionel 150 that is red, but underneath that red paint is peacock green. I plan on restoring it to the peacock green, seems like an interesting color combination.

I'm glad Gandy said something. I was scratching my head yesterday while thinking about how much enjoyment lay ahead. You could do is a little research to determine what you have. I used to enjoy buying a particular engine at Cal-Stewart just to take it home and take it apart. Have Fun!

After inspecting the interior and attempting to match the peacock up with anything else peacock in my collection (to no avail) it appears the original color of this locomotive was probably red, although the color on the interior almost looks closer to terra cotta.

I'll probably end up going this route, I like the polished silver wheels

Alright, did a couple coats of maroon paint to-day, cleaned up the tin & brass bits, shined the wheels and cleaned the motor and here she is all new and fully restored!

I took some artistic licensing and painted the vents gold like the Lionel 38 and left the pantograph on, I like the look better than that huge bell anyways and it gives it a more unique appearance.

Here it is with my 154.

Unfortunately due to some severely worn rollers, it's not a smooth runner... but I might be able to find the correct motor for it somewhere down the line  It's definitely a good looking little electric and I'm glad I got a hold of it!

Here it is with the coach that came with it, the coach was orange but I figured the red would look nicer with the locomotive.

Dropping off some ore at the refinery  I actually really like the look of it as a mining engine, I might keep it that way.

PS. I couldn't figure out how to apply the solder evenly to the rollers, is there a special technique you use?
