If anyone needs a quantity, a perlite manufacturer is just down the road from me. I picked up one of their bags quite some time ago & still have a bunch left. I know some folks use it to add courseness to landscaping & plasterwork. They sell it in a 4 cubic foot bag for super cheap. Here is their website & a picture of this giant bag-
