There is now a tourist train/ski train here.  The North Creek, NY station is on the Hudson River.  It has a small turntable.  I've been watching it evolve and re-open over the years.  This summer I want to go there and do some paintings of the trains.  The other end of the line is in Saratoga, NY.  The line is called the Saratoga & North Creek Railway.  This year they will be reopening track going to Tahawus, NY.  There is a mine and ghost town there.  They plan to remove five thousand train cars full of rock.

There are a number of other engines and cars parked there.  It's pretty interesting.  I haven't seen the museum yet.

This station is where Teddy Roosevelt learned he had become U.S. President after the assassination of President McKinley.  It is in the Adirondack Mountains.

There is a large Ski Area in town called Gore Mountain.  The train brings skiers to town during winter.

I have been there a few times over the past 10 years or so. Very historic. My wife and I sat up in a dome car for the very first time. Another time we took a ride along the Hudson River. That part of the Hudson can only be seen by rail as there are no roads in the area.

  The museum is very nice.

Another time, there was some sort of celebration going on in the whole town. They had bluegrass music playing, etc.

Erie, not Eerie

I'd really like to go for the ride along the Hudson too!!!  Should be really scenic!

I also want to visit the Trains on Parade place in Pottersville, NY.  It was closed during winter (last visit two weeks ago when I got those snow photos--it was so cold I just drove home--twelve hours each way!).  Pottersville is only twenty or so minutes away from North Creek.  I think the guy that runs it is on this forum too. Can't wait to see the Trains on Parade next visit I hope!

Can't wait to get back when the snow melts!

And Hot Water...you know the guy that restored the engine?  What a beautiful job!!!  I love those colors!

Let me be more clear. My buddy, the late Glenn F. Monhart, purchased two BL2 units from the B&A, brought them to his Janesville Wisc. Roundhouse, and completely restored the #52. Both his ACL E3 #501 and BL2 #52 were kept inside the Roundhouse when not in use.

Upon Glenn's death in 1998, we were finally successful in selling all his various locomotive and business assets. The Iowa Pacific purchased both BL2 units, but I never found out were the completed #52 wound up. I see they repainted it into their own colors, from Glenn's "Janesville & Southeastern RWY".
