What is the correct gauge for the piano wire that throws the points on switch turnouts. I am getting ready to mount my DZ2500's under my platform and want to get the correct size linkage wire

Just looked at the web site and it seems that it all depends on which switch you use. The size of the wire has to be smaller than the hole it mounts in...

It's not really a "correct" wire size, it's what works in your application. The holes can always be drilled out if needed. Wire size usually depends on how thick your roadbed is, because the thicker it is, the stiffer the wire needs to be. A .020" wire that works through 3/4" roadbed won't be stiff enough for 2" of roadbed.

That's better! I was wondering about what size welding rod you'd have to buy for the 2" roadbed! 
Also imagine how "springy" you want the wire to be so switch points give if the motor did not/failed to move the points in time. And coversely how stiff to hold those points againt the stock rails so points don't open and cause derailments.
