Last weekend my friend Chuck had a run session to show everyone his new Lionel VL Big Boy. We had a great time. Matt Makens and his dad, Pat, were down from the Twin Cities and were able to join us. One of the spectacular features of Chuck's layout is the professionally painted backdrop he has.
I took a video of the Big Boy too and will post on another thread when it is done loading.

Hey Art, thanks for the pictures. Matt Makens and his mother came through Clarksville Tennessee and stopped over to see my pike last year. Matt is a character and his mother is very nice. We had a lot of fun. Thanks for the pictures, of this very nice layout.

Art just to let you know I am out in the breezeway Freezing and trying to put together the kerosene heater that I got a couple of months ago.
What I want to do is to start laying track and roadbed & not freeze while I am attempting to work on the layout.
That sounds great Scot. It is supposed to be really cold this weekend so it's perfect timing.

Great photos Art. I'm curious; in photos 1 and 3 of the main street; are all of those buildings the ones sold through Menards, or are they the ones directly from Woodland Scenic? My downtown uses some of the same buildings.

Does Chuck use tubular track with ties added?
The Menards' buildings are made by Woodland Scenics. The only real difference that I have seen is that the Menards' buildings all have signage for Menards.

Sorry, I missed your question. Yes, he has Lionel tubular track and I think the Moon Dog extra ties. It really improves the appearance in my opinion.
