WOW!!!
They both look great!!
I'll take the third rail thank you.
Great models of a great engine!
But, I think I'd take that piece of retaining tape off the doghouse door on the Sunset tender....the longer it stays, the tougher it will be to remove without any witness residue or paint damage....IMHO, of course. (Just a suggestion)
Gotta love the N&W!...when it comes to steam-power, they hung in there to the bittersweet end, and had some awesome power as a result. We (LHS) have a scale J in our display case, and, as many times in a day I go down that aisle, my eyes are always drawn to it sitting there majestically in gorgeous satin black with a Tuscan red stripe...in the midst of ho-hum () Big Boys, Alleghenies, turbines, Zephyrs, flashy-painted modern diesel power, and other ilk! We should all have such quiet self-confidence....eh what?

KD - Thanks for the insight on the tape; will remove. I have never run across a model J in person but definitely appreciate its presence in real life - Great videos being released of 611 running in 2016
Like many, I am a big fan of the N&W steam roster. Would love to see a scale (highly detailed) version of the Class A from Sunset in the future. I am sure it would be a hit.

I'm curious ...... why?

OK - both are truly fabulous models and I even owned the Lionel JLC N&W Y6b + extra water tender before Sunset 3rd Rail came out with their version of the same engine not to long ago. Both have terrific detailing but I have to go with the Sunset 3rd Rail version - especially the nicely executed running gear and overall quality of the castings and paint finish. I might be mistaken but the 3rd Rail engine seems to have the edge on detailing but maybe I saying this because overall I'm partial to Sunset Models in general. Anyway I'm sure both are extremely nice models to own and a pleasure to operate.
One last comment - the photos really are terrific!
