I have finally started laying down Ross track on top of the soundboard. I was not looking forward to drilling and screwing the track, only to have to unscrew it to make adjustments. Also was worried about screwing it in too deep and the transferring the sound to the plywood beneath. I was thinking of ways to do this and I remembered a Pin Nailer I had bought a few years ago when I was doing some woodworking (OK making a lot of sawdust). This is a small lightweight nailer and puts a very small 23 gauge almost invisible wire nail through the wooden tie and into the sound board. I use the 3/4 inch pin and use about 6 per track and it doe not move. Yet with a screwdriver it lifts right out and the pins are easy to remove. It looks like this pins will hold the track nicely until all the layout work is done and I can ballast it into place

So if you are looking at putting alot of track down, you might want to invest in one

pin nailer
