Hello,

I bought a set of these recently.  I know they are the epitome of toylike, but I still find them attractive and improvable, and can't help but think that with a little bit of paint, they could make decent vehicles.  (I'm also not sure what color and markings a 1950s ambulance would bear.). How have others incorporated these vehicles into their layouts?

Thanks,
Aaron

I like them, too.  Also look for old Post cereal 'premiums' and check out Gasoline Alley antique toys for tons of other "toy like" toy  cars.  They have plastic, rubber, slush mould, early cast, and a herd of others.

Dimestore Dreams used to have a nice line, but they're out of business now I understand.

Someone is producing repros of Plasticville and Marx plastic shell cars and trucks, but the name escapes me.

They're not Plasticville or Marx.  They're not even plastic.  But, I remember as a kid seeing Midgetoy and Tootsietoy vehicles used in just about every Christmas train garden

in Baltimore.   The Midgetoy vehicles, I thought, were somewhat more refined than the Tootsietoys.

I also have some Processed Plastic vehicles that were made in the mid 1950s.  The ones I have are 2 1956 Cadillac Eldorados, a 1956 Chevy Nomad, and a 1956 Chevy LCF flatbed.
