I like all kinds of O/O27 trains, new ones and old ones alike. But I will always have a special place in my heart for the post war stuff. And so it was on this overcast, drizzly day in northeast Ohio that I took out my steamer junk box and went through it just cuz ... You will note a red circled area in the photo - all 5 of those motors were complete enough to run, some without gears or wheels, some were mostly intact. All were dirty, nasty, hard to turn due to years of neglect. But you know what they say about the durability of PW stuff. I oiled every one of those five and hit 'em up with some juice, no other prep work. They all took off and ran! And the smell of ozone, old grease and oil ... well, let's just say it's been a wonderful afternoon!

So can anyone identify the type or style of these motors and what they might have gone to? The bottom one in the top picture looks like a whistle motor, and the one in the lower left corner of the second picture looks like a 1654M-1, but I am clueless as to what engine it was used in.

I'm especially curious about the motor in these last two pictures - obviously too incomplete to run, it has both an e-unit and a smoke unit built in. I may have enough parts to rebuild it, except for two wheels and an axle. It has a double wound field and of course, a two-position e-unit. And check out the tear drop shaped area between the spokes in the drivers. Any help ID'ing this one and the engine it went into?
