I just bought a new CW 80 transformer. I have 12 MTH lighted buildings.
The green light on the transformer flickers and then the lights go off.
Looks like I can only light 5 buildings at one time
Does this seem right?
How do you figure out how much wattage you need?
The Transformer is new out of the box but I suspect
Its been sitting on a shelf for a while or came out of a starter set.

I would take it back to the dealer as you recently bought it and just ask. If he has another one he should replace it and if not call Lionel and they may send you another one free. Lionel had some problems with that transformer years ago and know they want to correct that situation.
I had my CW 80 that I got w/a set (have since upgraded) that gave out a month or so ago. I agree with George - if it's under warranty take it back to the dealer & see if they'll replace it. If not, Lionel was pretty easy about sending me a replacement (currently en route). You just need to call them, explain the situation & get a Return Authorization #. They'll make you cut off the power cord & pop off the orange handle & send to them w/a copy of the invoice/receipt (you kept a copy, right?). I sent my stuff in last week, & got an e-mail confirming receipt of my claim a few days ago, and a shipping confirmation e-mail today.
