I think there was a thread that was debating which was a better plastic to use for covering model board.  Debate was over how well various types could be drilled without cracking, stifness etc.

While I don't have a model board anymore, I wanted to get some plexiglass or some type stiff plastic that can be shaped into broad rounded corners.  These will be put at one layout corner to keep clothing and stuff from snagging my newly installed gates and trees etc now occupying this corner.  Corner used to be bare buck naked painted pink foam layer which had its dings and gouges from clothing and tools etc. over the years, thus proactive protection is now required (signal maintainers get tired of re-installing fallen signals and chopping up fallen trees).

Suggested material and thickness?    I want to glue the corner plastic pieces so plastic has to be glue friendly.  Or is there something commercially out there in big box home improvement stores?

Plexiglas (acrylic) requires heat to bend it but Lexan (polycarbonate) does not. It can be bent like corresponding thickness aluminum. I've used a metal brake to bend 1/16" Lexan in a right angle without heat or breakage. If you cut it with a saw make sure you smooth the edges before trying to bend it to eliminate stress risers.
