I want to thank all the members who spent the time to get Lionel to correct this problem.  I bought this car in January, contacted Lionel right away and just picked up the returned car. It looks great but now does not have the light switch- I can live with that! Again thanks for all the members that made this happen! Don in Montana

Mine took 16 days round trip. Looks real nice. One question on others that have swapped. Mine did not come with the light switch so I can’t turn off the interior lights as shown in the manual???

others the same?

If this is the Weaver RPO/Baggage tooling?

If so the marker lights are only on the baggage car, not the RPO, even though the manual may give the impression they're on both.

So, looks like this issue may be occurring again. Just got the Vision Reindeer car, and the paint is "close-ish," but the color is noticeably lighter, and the lettering a different yellow than the original cars.

Anyone else taken a look/reached out to Lionel yet on this? I hate to be a pain to them, but I have to deal with paint matches in my business, and this doesn't really pass muster.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone else who got this car.

The crazy part is they’ve had two correctly painted releases since the RPO screw up: the hobo and sleeper cars were perfect matches to the original sets. Yet, somehow they’ve now lost the paint codes again.

The Polar Express stuff is but a small part of the much larger problem with paint colors in Lionel BTO stuff. Recall the many, many releases of battleship gray smoke boxes on $1,000+ Legacy steamers. The idea that as recently as the latest release of the ten wheelers dealers are still sending them out to have them correctly repainted is nuts.

It remains a mystery to me as to why it’s so hard for Lionel to figure out and correct, but apparently it is.

Having been burned on three or four items (some of which are currently being sold off at York), paint issues have significantly reduced my preorders.
