I believe the general thought is to stretch it, pull it, divide it into very thin wispy elements before going to the next step(s).

Okay. That's a mental image that's seared into my brain. I will never be able to look at my landscaping the same way again. I think all I can do now will be to tear down Paradise and put up a parking lot.
