I need a source to have some horizontal motors rebuilt. Someone that can pull the gear from the housing, replace the armature, and press the gear back on. I'm tired of replacing used worn out parts with used parts that wear out soon after they are put in.

I found a guy who rebuilds E-Unit cores, unless someone on here does it for a reasonable price. Replacing 60 year old parts with used 60 year old parts just don't last very long!

Rob hit it on the head with the wearing of the front and rear bushing on these motors. There are several other points to get these hummers running smoothly. The thrust washer in the tail may also need a additional thrust washer, either a 671m-19 or a 671m-23.  The idler gear assbly shaft becomes worn creating slop between the drive gear on the armiture shaft and the worm shaft gear. This in time for high mileage units wears the worm shaft bearings which causes more slop.
