Hi all, I've taken apart the trucks on my PW passenger cars to clean the wheels and axles. Are the axles and wheels supposed to turn or just the wheels? One of the trucks I took off, both axles and wheels turned, the other truck only one of the two axles turned pretty freely.

Any suggestions on which it should be?

Also, any suggestions other than a good scrub and cleaning to get them to turn any better?

Thanks!

I have PW 2400 and Williams 2500 type cars.  the "107" oil works well.  Once you lube the wheel axle set, spin in.  If PW, if each wheel spins, you are OK.  If Modern, if the whole wheel axle spins you are good.

I think I've got some 108, I'll have to swing by the shop and get some 107. I should have mentioned that these are the PW 2400 series, Maplewood, Livingston, etc.

Thanks for the feed back!

I used some Teflon oil I got from radio shack years ago.  It came in a plastic tube with like a hypo needle applicator.  I applied it the the gap between the wheels and axle as well as the axle to truck frame.   It worked well for me

I've got some Teflon oil that I use for my road cycle on the derailleurs and chain, maybe I'll give that a try.

I find that cleaning the wheels and about half a drop of the La Belle 107, which is just synthetic motor oil, gets things rolling well.  One thing to watch out for is wheels with oversized holes.  Try twisting the wheel.  If you run across one that is very loose it probably should be replaced.

For the most part they all seem pretty good, nothing is really "wobbling" or overly loose while spinning them. I'll keep an eye on the other ones as well as I take them off.
