I have just noticed something about my trains. On part of my layout my locomotives really slows down.I mean were before they did not.I think I know the problem but not real sure.I have some rust on a few sections of track.Well on the sides of the rails. Can this cause the problem?I have been thinking about pulling the track and replacing it.What do you guys think?

First thing I would check for is a high resistance joint most likely in the center rail.

O.k. I did not think of that.I will use a volt meter and check it out. Thanks for the tip.
Have you tried adding additional power supply to the layout? Use a power lockon every 4 or 5 track sections, sometimes after a switch helps too.

I have only two points on the layout. Its been pretty good up until now.But I might try that.
If you only have a couple of power drops, that's certainly where to start!
Voltmeter will only show a bad connection if lotsa power is being drawn through the connection. If you've got rust on rails, you may have it on pins or inside rails.
