I just got a 4-6-2 loco with a white battery in it , i think bat is ok but not sure once I get the loco running everything works but the sound is very soft no mater if I turn up the volume pot or if I use the dcs , I tried resetting the loco but that did not help. any ideas on what to do?

Check the speaker. If its got metal flaking around it, replace it. Or the audio amp in the board could have gone bad. Also, replace the white battery with an EBL from Amazon or a BCR

It’s an old battery. Replace it with a BCR…
