Just picked up a used E8ABA 20-2303-1 All functions on the engine are working, however, the sound is soft and crackly. Tried Feature reset, Checked the Volume control on the bottom and the TIU, Replaced battery with BCR. No change. All individual sound settings are 100 percent. Ideas? Thinking speaker may be bad.

One other note, there is no change in sound no matter how the volume control on the engine is turned.

Stop running it and replace the speaker!

How much did you give for that PS2 5V?

Did you happen to check the basics before powering? Battery, speaker, bad or swollen leaking capacitors? Wincap?
