With having created a petite holiday layout for Halloween, thinking of how to adapt it for Christmas season. Rather than run an 'xmas train' or run 'xmas cars' per se, I thought about this yesterday and decided that I'd like to maybe run my first AF O Gauge passenger set, dated 1928 I purchased from NWL and my first AF Wide Gauge freight set with the bell ringing Shasta electric engine.

Since any xmas buildings, etc. I may have there (unlike the Halloween ones) will not have sounds, it will be very nice to go more old school- to hear the simple clickety-clack of the trains themselves rattling away on the tracks. This little layout out in the Foyer will provide a nice specific showcase, rather than seeing them run as part of their larger layouts they usually live on.

I shall bring down from the Upstairs Standard Gauge Layout the "Castle's Playland" set up I created for my vintage Barclay skaters and sledders. fullsizeoutput_a30b

The Dept 56 Seasons Bay winter peeps shall also come down from the Upstairs O Gauge Layout.

The plywood table cover material will be the same sparkly fabric as the Halloween one, just in a xmas green color.

The Roosevelt Park-in Theater I created for the Halloween layout may or not stay for the holiday season, as space allows.

What, no Thanksgiving Layout?  LOL!

I look forward to seeing your layout!  I recall visiting a late friend's house in late March one year and seeing his Christmas layout under a (barely) live tree!  The home was still decorated for Christmas, as his wife collected ornaments!

NWL

I have done a mini Xmas scene previously around our big fake xmas tree that lives decorated in our Foyer all year. However, over the last two years I've kinda grown tired of having everything at such a low level, and needing to lay on the Foyer floor to set it up and work on it and best view things.

This new petite layout is only about 30" high, the plywood is set up on card tables- so its easy to see and work on.

I also keep a wreath made with vintage ornaments right at top edge of the windows right behind the Main Floor Layout up all year.
