NS F7 AA Units #4270 and #4271.
I'm having trouble with this Lashup working on sidings that have an on/off power switch. If I power up the tracks from the Z-4000 and power on is on the tracks where the Lashup is, all works fine upon startup of the Lashup. However if the Z-4000 is powered up and I flip a toggle switch for the track were the Lashup is, then engine is frozen in Neutral. Horn/Bell and the direction button will swap the headlights but everything else is frozen.
Here's what happens...
Power Z-4000 / TIU Main line (Maybe running other trains, maybe not)
Flip a toggle switch for a siding where the Lashup is parked.
Watchdog signal is missed by both engines and they both start.
Try starting up Lashup. Horn, Bell, lights, sounds work. Engine frozen in neutral.
However if I do it this way, I can get it to work...eventually
Power Z-4000 / TIU Main line (Maybe running other trains, maybe not)
Flip a toggle switch for a siding where the Lashup is parked.
Watchdog signal is missed by both engines and they both start.
Start up #4270, then shut it down.
Start up #4271, then shut it down.
Start Lashup... All works as it should. Except my complaint is the Lashup can not remember my engine noise level and always starts with the smoke ON, even though I have it turned off in the individual engines and the Lashup settings.
I read a few posts about ensuring the caps in the engine are bend down horizontally vice standing up vertically. If they are not horizontal, the watchdog signal may be missed by interference. Fortunately or unfortunately for me, when I opened both engines, all the caps were already bent over horizontally.
Any thoughts on how I can get the watchdog signal to behave so I do not have to go through separate startup and shutdown sequences of individual engines before I start the Lashup?
