This engine has been sitting on the shelf for several months. I attempted to start it up and I get "engine not on track", I deleted engine and tried to add back as suggested and get "no engine to add". Tried to recover engine with no luck "cannot find engine".
The engine does have a BCR which I waited a couple of minutes to make sure it was charged. Any thoughts? Could the BCR be bad?

It sounds more like the old 5 volt board has failed. You may have to replace with a proto 3/2 replacement. But for the cost and depending on how well you like this model of engine, a replacement can probably be found on Ebay.
I bet Chuck is right. First, try running it conventionally.
if it will run conventionally I would tray a feature reset and conventional reset might make work again in DCS!

It does run conventionally, everything works. How do I do those recommended resets when the engine is not in my DCS remote?
1 whistle / 5 bells will reset it in conventional. But X your fingers. Still think the board is the problem, but won't hurt to try.
Thanks for all the help. Finally solved problem. Turned out it was a track wiring issue which I am still tracking down.
