I am really enjoying designing stuff for the Christmas Express in the summer time.

Here is some more progress on this project.  I have the windows, trim, and bricks figured out as I want them to look on this building.  The entire thing can now be printed and assembled as a kit for my layout.  Very happy with the changes.  I will post more as I begin putting it all together in future.  I am calling this the Short Line Depot. It is a mix between the altamont and ridgeway depots.  I wanted something skinny so I made only one window for it.

One question you might help with is the windows. Should I put some tape behind them to simulate glass or leave them open?  I do plan to add some 3mm lights inside this when it is done.

Thanks for checking this out.

Bill,

That is a good looking design.  Many members of this forum use thin plastic for windows from containers which hold fresh fruit or cover the cakes and pies sold in food markets.  Masking or painters tape may be used 'inside' those windows to simulate pull down shades.  We have used 1/2 x 1/2 pieces of balsa or basswood to reinforce the corners.  If the building will be constructed with a base, like pieces of wood at the base of the walls wouldn't hurt. Please keep us up to date while building this nice project.
