For my command control layout, I had all transformers relegated to under the layout.  They were easily accessible if needed but were not displayed.  Things changed when I got the ZW-L.  With the 4 lit meters and bright blue Lionel  front, I decided this needed to standout .  I bought a 1x12 oak board and made a nice display shelf for it.  It now resides on one corner of the layout.  The gauges are now easily viewed and the ZW-L now has a proper place.  I was quite happy how the weekend project turned out.  Have a look...

I agree: the ZW-L should be displayed.  My trainroom is on the third floor, and as you first head up the stairs, there IT is, on a shelf at the head of the stairs, the blue LIONEL glowing.  As you get closers, suddenly you see its four eyes bright and shining, staring at you.  Superb!  (Not to mention, how it runs trains!!!!).
