I think they are intriguing electrics.  The problem is, of course the limited market.  One participant here has fronted $75,000 to ensure that a model gets built, and will share in the profit if it turns out to be a popular model.  He, of course, will take a hit if it does not sell well.

The best way to get an obscure model without risking a huge pile of money is to find a reputable builder, and have him/her build you one.  "Brother Love" comes to mind if you like plastic models.  I bet he could even do the truck side frames for the six axle unit, and you could have a foundry convert one into a mold for a very short production run in brass.  I have done that with some success.

Just Opinion.

A number of years ago I had a Sunset / 3rd Rail sign made up with a photo requesting modelers who were interested in these electric locomotives to sign their name - not a commitment, just a serious request if you really wanted to see these made and displayed the sign at a number of shows including York and Chicago.

After a few serious names were signed I received names such as Mickey Mouse signing for 20 units. Evidently the masses thought that was funny and signed further names such as Minnie Mouse for 10 units and Goofy for 5 units.  I threw the paper away. Sorry folks.

These would have to be done in brass as there would be a limited interest in them. I'll talk with Scott and see what happens. I believe there would have to be about 100 models produced to make the project worthwhile.

thank you for your effort, i appreciate it.

I will go along with Hot Water as to when I saw these. As I recall it was from about the mid '50's onward through the early '60's. As I recall the E44's put them and the other PRR freight electric locomotives out of service sometime early in the '60's.

John, I like the E3b also but I seriously doubt that will ever gain any favor due to the problems with making  the third truck work on a model.

The time frame is probably why I hadn't seen any in action.  Although I am old enough, soon to be 70, I wasn't paying much attention to real trains in those days.
