I have an MTH PS 2.0 Premier F3 A-B-A set, 20-2923-1. I was running the A-A units together using DCS the other day when my second A unit just went off and couldn't be stopped. I have put it on the track several times since and as soon as power is applied to the track, it takes off in reverse (it was running in reverse when it first malfunctioned). I do not need to give it a DCS signal from the handheld for it to start off--transformer power is sufficient. Feature Reset and Factory Reset have done nothing. The marker lights flicker as power is applied, and when hooked with its companion A unit, when the direction if reversed using the hand-held, the problem unit's cab, head and marker lights flash on and fade or flicker.

Also, the other A unit, which presumably is the "lead" A unit, still runs fine and I am now running it with my dummy B unit in tow, no worries.

Any thoughts on how to get this guy running correctly again? Thanks.

Actually, it wasn't a slave board issue, it had to do with coupling in the motor lead wires either through the trail harness or internally that was causing motor FET to over heat and short.

The fix was to ensure the motor leads where twisted the entire length inside the trail A with Slave, and even modify the B unit harness internally to ensure the motor leads were twisted.    G
