Bill, This is the 5V model with board in the engine. Last thing to check is making sure the 12 pin plug in the front of the board is pushed in all the way, then with the tether plugged into the engine, make sure you have good continuity from the 2 speaker wires (should be Yel&Wht) through the harness and to the PCB solder pads on the back of the engine frame. Probably is pins 9 and 10 with Yel and Wht wires going to the 12 board connector. May be a high resistance in the harness, or a cracked solder joint on the PCB. Carefully resoldering those pin connections on the PCB (not the actual solder pad the wire is on, but the pin protrusion near it and connected via a trace could restore full volume.
I think this was a fix for your exact model I had several years ago. Those outside pins take the stresses when the engine goes through curves and sometimes the solder joint breaks. G
