PS-3 MTH 611

Two friends of mine have theirs. The definitely shipped

I got mine yesterday. They moved the bell to its current location on the real 611.

Patrick Trains looks like they have them in stock. 

Have you tried the MTH "Product Locator"?  Shows they were shipped, thus you should be able to "locate" one at a dealer in your area.

Nice pictures Matthew.  Nice that MTH moved to the bell.  Can you share a video?  

Thanks for the update. I've sent an email following-up on my pre-order.

Note that the bell is not the right tone and one of the soft key sounds is not loaded correctly. Here is the video of the engine running.

Matthew, is that the correct sound file with that whistle? Doesn't sound they way I remember it when the 611 last ran. 

We (LHS) received our shipment yesterday.

Matthew, thank you for posting your video. Haven't heard regarding my preorder, so I'll be calling my LHS this morning to make sure they have correct Credit Card info.

 

Paul, check out the Real Trains forum. There's been a ton of talk there regarding the 611 whistle.

 

As for the sound file, I'll just have to run my 604, 605, and 611 together and see which one I like best. Sound files are a nice MTH feature. Don't like the sound file? Just download another....

There is also going to be another run of the 611 from MTH with "The Spirit of Roanoke"

Are you serious? Is this someone playing a cruel joke? That sound file is terrible, EW!

The sounds on the embedded file are whacked. If you go to the YouTube video, it's "better". The whistle still sounds a lot like "Villamont".

I read somewhere that after MTH had a chance to record sounds of the 611 from its recent run, it would release a revised sound file.

The drip down south to record the 611 in Spencer, NC didn't work out. Thus, MTH will have to use a previous sound set, which should more closely match a CORRECT N&W passenger whistle, instead of the UP whistle the 611 currently carries.

Here the PFA that MTH chose. I personally don't like. Also I noticed that MTH got the marker lights wrong. They are green and not amber like they should be.

Over exuberant fans? Really? Well, that's one button on the DCS Remote I won't ever have to bother pressing....

 

I did get my payment straight with Pat's Trains. Really looking forward to receiving it next week.

If they are ON, then they should be either WHITE or green.

I received the following from MTH serve ice this evening:

MTH sound engineer alerted me to the following.

#611 N&W J 20-3571-1 soft key, S09, sample rate is too slow.

Revised consumer package file containing the revised sound file (.MTH) to correct this issue is now on the website.   Anyone wanting to correct the S09 function can now fix the sound by loading the revised sound file from the website.

I've been told, the Whistle on the refurbished 611 now in operation utilizes a UP Big Boy whistle not the original N&W J whistle. Therefore the real engine has different whistle sound compared to MTH's 20-3571-1 model and the original N&W J.

The PFA sounds very corny,  Like a low budget PSA announcement, really bad. Come on MTH you are better then that. Just the station stops please. 

Matthew thanks for posting the videos.  Is the whistle on new PS-3 model the same as the one used PS-2 model or did MTH use different whistle?   How does the quillable whistle sound?
