PS1 Engine Not Responding to Add Engine | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I recently acquired a 90s Amtrak Genesis set. I changed the battery and then I put the engine on the track and powered it up I heard 3 clanks instead of the two bells. There was no other response. My friend has the MTH wonder chip so we tried that; and managed to get the engine to respond with the two bells. It appears to operate OK now in conventional mode. When I tried to execute an add engine; the engine made a loud buzzing noise and the remote showed "No Engine To Add". Following the DCS Users Guide I pressed the "Read Button" and saw all my other engines listed. Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated as my grandsons are anxiously awaiting this set.

Bob,

A PS-1 engine is conventional only. It cannot be operated in command mode with DCS.
