Another rookie question folks

I removed this proto sound 1 smoke unit from the empire State Express. The fan and lights all plugged into a board located in loco.

Now I would like to possibly install this in an old Lionel steamer.

I assume I can't run the fan to straight track power without it burning it out. What would I need to do to run this safely?

And are those diodes attached to the fan wiring?

Thanks for any help. I'm learning.

You need the little fan control board that was also in that locomotive, it provides both the heater regulation and the smoke fan power.
