This question is most probably best answered by John or George.  Am upgrading a MT-6604  GP-9 (protosound) to PS3.  There are too many, long, wires not used in this installation and I desire to eliminate as many as possible so they do not have to be crammed up on top of the boards.                                                                                                          There is no smoke unit in this diesel.  So I removed the following wires from the 40-pin connector:  for the smoke fan (#16,18, 21) and for the smoke heater (#8,10,14).  Question is  -  can I safely remove the smoke control  wires 15 and 19 (partial) without causing a problem.  There is no sense in bundling up wires, etc. that are not being used and take up a lot of room on top of the board set.

Thanks,Bruce

Hey GRJ....

When you said you're "taking the all the wires out of the connector", did you mean you're removing the pins/sockets from the connector and the wires or just cutting the wires at the connector?

If you are removing pins/sockets and the wires from the connector; would you mind sharing how you do that? Is there a tool for that?
