Is Mth planning to release PS3 kits that could work for older engines such as the 30-1215-1 0-6-0 steamer? And since PS3 is new, I assume that PS2 sound files are incompatiable due to new memory mapping.

You'd have to ask MTH to be sure, however, I expect that a PS3 upgrade kit should work fine to upgrade any PS2 engine. The only question regarding the kit is how the kit will deal with the existing tether for steamers.
The only question I'd have for you is, unless a PS2 engine was broken beyond an inexpensive repair, why would you waste the time and money on upgrading a functional PS2 engine?

Hi Barry,
Because due to a problem caused by me, the PS2 boards in my 0-6-0 fried. So I got an ACL 0-6-0 and swapped shells. Just hate having a good engine sitting on the dead line, thus either install a Dallee reverse unit or see if a PS3 could be installed.
Well, I would bet the cost is going to be similiar or higher, so why not get the PS-2 with 5V connectors, or a steam kit and install it. The last I heard was another batch of PS-2 kits later this year. So holding your breath for marketing, verses what service says, could be risky:-) G
