Anybody else noticed this? When I use DCS remote and press engine sound, engine sounds cut out, as one would expect. When I press this key again, it doesn’t restore engine sounds, as would be expected. Instead, I have to do a feature reset to restore sounds. I noticed this when muting the engines to speak or answer the phone. Can’t recall it happening with PS2 models.

Just tried it with two engines, the sounds come back fine for me.
I have not experienced this issue.
I haven't had the issue. How old is the remote Mark ?
I've had something similar happen when running a signal test. When the test starts the sounds are muted but if the track signal is low, the engine sounds won't restore when the test is ended. I have to turn up the master volume control to restore sound.
If you goto the sound control and turn up the engine volume from there, does the sound come back?
Everytime anyone uses the microphones in the remotes to talk "through" the engines, the sound goes crazy and it requires a reset.
when I've ran into this problem it usually works ok but some engines you have to hit the button again on the remote and it clears up!

The signal test sometimes does cause issues with the sound settings, I agree.
OK in a controlled laboratory clean room, using rigorous scientific methodology, in a double blinded placebo controlled study, here's what I’ve found. With the limited number of PS2/PS3 engines currently available to me, pressing 4 on DCS remote mutes the engines, but upon pressing 4 again, to restore sound, only silence occurs in the following engines:
SR 0-6-0 PS2 (3v) 30-1270-1 BCR
Santa Fe 0-6-0 PS3 30-1661-1
NYC System RS3 PS3 30-20544-1
WestMary 0-8-0 PS3 30-1610-1
PRR 0-6-0 PS3 20-3453-1
D&H RS3 PS3 30-21211-1
It DID NOT occur in:
NYC 4-6-0 PS2 (5v) 30-4046-1E (battery, not BCR)
Santa Fe MP15DC PS3 30-20583-1
Rest of my engines are packed away, in anticipation of preparatory basement redo.
This is not a fatal flaw, but it is annoying, and its occurrence has been slowly dawning on me. Sometimes, I want no sound other than the noise of trains moving, yet I want to restore sounds without having to do a feature reset.
I encourage you to attempt to duplicate my findings. Thanks for looking.
Mark......what I've come to realize is, no two MTH loco's are created equal!!!!
See you soon!!!

No; sound is only restored through feature reset.
