Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just recently I made arrangements with Lou La Salle to purchase his very nicely kept Hellgate Bridge, for my O Gauge Christmas layout.  The really great thing about this transaction is Lou is a flyer, living in Bucks County, and he just might be able to deliver the Hellgate Bridge to me personally, here in Tioga County at the small Airport up by the Pa Grand Canyon, about 15 minutes from my log cabin home.   We will see how this all works out, sometimes making a purchase from one of the OGR members can turn into great fun!  If he can stay a while I will buy him dinner at the Antlers Restaurant near my log cabin.  If this works out I will definitely take some pictures, talk about a delivery service!

PCRR/Dave,

Hope all goes well with your meeting.  Very novel way to receive something - better than Amazon!  Sending along some pictures showing the Hellgagte Bridge on my layout.  I used blue LED's to light it up which I believe adds a nice touch to this beautiful bridge.  Good luck with your layout plan.

The G Man,

I like that idea very very much, I believe I will use your idea with a cool twist, where did you purchase those LED's and do they have them in Green?

Mike,

I do not know if Lou sold ScrapIron anything or not, could very well be the same gentlemen.  Not many personal flight deliveries going on!

Sean007,

Nice handle by the way, I can identify with the cost being detrimental, Lou's price on this Hellgate Bridge, was a good one and I grabbed it right away, or I still would be looking even now.  I will need to alter my Christmas layout a little, transitioning in and out of my FasTrack, or I might just be using my Rockwell X2 Portable Table Saw a little more, to make some additional custom size FasTrack pieces to fit the Hellgate Bridge. Like you I had been looking to acquire this HG for quite a long time.  Looks like the fore thought engineering of leaving the open span on my 1st level, will finally get it's Hellgate Bridge crossing.  I am siked about this structural addition, no punt about that.

Jim C,

We will see how the engineering works out this time, it might just be more tricky than in the past when my buddy had the greater space allotment, I would sure like to have an addition straight track on both sides of the HG to work with in my engineering scheme.  We may have to transition in and out of Tubular with the space I have on the home layout.  Can only work so much magic with FT, even cutting custom pieces.

Mike:  Check ebay, seller's name: evemodel_es (11919).  Don't know if green is available but worth a check.  The walkways on my Tinplate HB bridge measure approx. 22".  I had ordered the strips that measure 70mm (about 2-7/8 inches) and soldered them together.  Cut pigtails as short as possible and then soldered 10 pcs together for each side. (fills length of the walkway almost perfectly).  Then placed soldered strip on a piece of thin balsa cut to the width and length of the walkways, glued strip to the balsa and then painted silver.  I believe they come 20 strips to a package so it worked out perfectly.  Cost is very modest and I liked the fact that they work on 12-18V, either AC or DC.
