The YouTube link shows the operation of my Platform on the layout.   It works, but...at about the 10 second mark it gets loud and the forklift moves to the awaiting lumber car. It moves to the car and starts to load a piece of lumber. At about the second  23 mark, it stalls and the vibration/motor gets considerably quieter.  The sound is similar to the sound in the first 10 seconds of operation before it gets loud and the forklift moves.   On the test bench, it worked fine.   There was a pause after it unloaded a piece of lumber but then the forklift traveled to the car, loaded another piece of lumber and dropped it off w/o the pause you see at the loading stage in the video. I've done nothing to the platform when I moved it to the layout and the voltage is the same on the layout as on the test bench.  Before I open it up, any  suggestions, comments, etc. Actually, even if I open it up, is there anything I can actually do?  Any idea what I should look for?  Thanks.

Hi Ed,  THe 264 is one of my favorite operating accessories.   I could not see your video, so its hard to comment on why it may work on your work bench and not on the layout.  I just worked on mine recently, it was acting sporadically.  Cleaned everything and rechecked the tension and reinstalled the drive line.  Works great now.

I have up loaded the diagram.  It has some suggestions for sluggish operation, you may consider some new springs and new drive line.  Parts are readily available, I use jeff at the train tender.

Hope this helps,  Dave

Ed: FWIW-when I owned my original #264 the operation of the forklift was much faster and uniform than what I see in your video. There was also no vibration transferred to the deck of the platform (your "unloaded" lumber is dancing around on top....). I never had to do any maintenance on mine, but I suspect the drive string is loose/slipping due to age or a weak tension spring.

Thanks for the info and suggestion. I'm going to do as you and Dave suggest. Open it up and replace the key drive parts.
