The small motor in my WW I pylon died and I want to replace it. The part is not available from Lionel. Does anyone know what kind of hobby shop motor would work as a replacement? Thanks in advance.
Most of the can motors used in these types of things are a Mabuchi (genuine if you're lucky) or a clone of the Mabuchi (if you're less than lucky). The Mabuchis always start with a 2-letter designation such as FA or FS which the clones usually f
(Continuing from last post) follow to the letter. This will help you in finding a replacement motor. The 4-6 number code after the letters designates things like voltage and shaft length. Be sure to match the voltage.
When I replace a motor I usually try to use a Mabuchi or a Johnson. Jameco.com has a good selection of models and voltage ranges for both of these brands.
