Hi all I just bought the lionel NYC shark noses, they are beautiful sound is awesome

and they run great. If anyone else has these engine's I would like to know when I

gain speed the engine doesn't rev up at all, it stays the same. I have the legacy system

and checked everything. its in legacy mode its set to a diesel engine the rpm button is set to

auto is there something I'm missing or does it just stay like that.

Thanks, Alex

It seems the legacy diesels don't ramp up the rpms in the same way as TMCC locos do. The legacy system caters more to the "manual rpm guy". While I do not own these I experienced the same thing with my legacy geep. Set the train brake slider about 1/4" above the full down position. I have my momentum set at 3, but once you have the train brake on, run the loco and adjust the momentum to get the RPM's to respond to your liking. You can also try adjusting the train brake as well, a little bit goes a long way. See if that helps.

Thanks again, Alex

I just "fiddled with it" some more Alex. Another way is to set the momentum higher say 5 or 6 and then give the throttle knob a short quick turn, each time the target line goes out of the speed graph the RPM's go up,turn the target line below the graph and they go down. Just gotta find the "sweet spot" in all of the legacy features.

I have noticed that the RPM ramp up seems to happen differently depending on how you turn the red knob. For example if yu turn the knob quickly the RPM jump up as the engine moves. If you dial the knob slowly, you wil see no jump in RPM.
for safety when trying this, set your momentum to high and perhaps a speed limit so you don't send your train off the tracks.
I'd be curious if others have the same experience as I do.

Thanks!

I've also noticed that my new sharknoses (D&H) do not rev up or down as quickly as my other engines. It seems the larger the throttle input the quicker the rpms increase but small inputs do not affect the rpms. In comparison, I also bought two of the new SD40-2s this past weekend and the rpm changes are immediate with even the slightest throttle changes. However, I think the sharknoses are great and I love running them.  -Len
