I love these green Santa Fe boxcars. Where they used for LCL or baggage? Did they go at the front of a passenger train or at the rear?

Looks like an Express car (at least the truck look like express trucks). It would be at the head end or the train, right behind the loco. These cars have special feeds to run steam for heating back to the rest of the train. Green was intended to match Pullman green usually find on the heavyweight cars prior to intro of stainless steel fluted lightweight cars.
