I collect mostly post war lionel but lately have brought home some MPC locos. I have a couple of ep5's , a B&O F3, 6200 Turbine and today a 784 Hudson.  I know the 773 Hudson is considered the most desirable post war loco and was wondering what is considered to be the most desirable MPC era steam loco and diesel loco.

On the diesel side most of the dual motored F3s are still sought after, and the Mickey Mouse Express U36B remains popular.  For steam the N&W J, SP GS-4 and B&A Hudson  usually top the list.   The L&N Berkshire (#8615) is a tough get, and the Blue Comet Hudson (#8801) has stubbornly held its value.

A general (but not absolute) rule of thumb for MPC is that if it’s never been remade my LTI or LLC, it’s still in demand.
