Assuming the O72 and O82 track are the diameters at the centerlines, I did a couple of quick calculations to obtain the chord lengths of the 22.5 degree standard sections. I came up with 14.05" and 16" chord lengths, respectively. After checking a sample section of each........... Yup. Right on the money. Looks like 72" and 82" circles should be the exact diameters at the track centerlines.
Paul thanks again not only for the empirical data but mostly for getting to engage my brain.
Both the O82 an O72 circles are made up of 16 sections. So each section is 22.5 degrees of the arc. I have use cord calculation and trig thousands of times, but never gave it a consideration here/this time. Brian cells getting lower these days!
