Radio boards

I have little Legacy, and a lot of TMCC, and I have had to replace 2 or 3 radio boards over the last 20 or so years. They are not typically all that delicate (I have some "ancient" ones), but my Legacy experience is slim. So, I don't know.

Your post, though, seems to indicate that your GP9 will accept commands, but will not move. If I read that correctly, that indicates not a radio problem but a motor driver board problem.  

It will not a accept commands. Just sits there and goes to the top rpm, smoke, but no fan.

Well, we need some advice from the experts here (I'm informed, but not an expert); maybe change your thread title to "Need help with Legacy radio boards" or some such, and some will chime in. Good luck.

This little receiver sit atop the RCMC, and can become dislodged pretty easily.  Also, I've had a couple of these that had a broken pin which resulted in a failure.  Check this first, and be VERY careful not to bend/break the fragile pins.

This is the RCMC, you can see the receiver described above perched on top.

They also can go bad even when connected correctly.  Replaced a few too.  G

Well, yes.  However, I'd check to see it was connected properly and no physical damage to connections first.

I checked the recevier, even changed it out for a new one I had, checked the antenna and it's connections. No improvement.

Sad to say, if all the wiring is intact, it's starting to sound like the RCMC board.

that would be the $120 board I'm afraid.
