I have a good many MTH Engines on my system, I think I have 14. When I turn the system on, everything is fine is except for a RK PS3 Diesel. On system power before I hit any keys on the remote, this engines turns it lights on and smoke will start to come out. If I hit the start-up, the engine turns the smoke off and runs fine. I have 2 other RK engines that do not show this but they are both PS2. Is this engine coming up in conventional mode? If I do a factory reset, will this maybe fix the problem? Looking for any suggestions. The only thing that bothers me on this is the smoke coming on. Sometimes I don't notice this until I smell it. I don't want to mess up the smoke unit because I am running it and the smoke fluid is used up.

Yes it is. You can turn the smoke off with the pot. That way when it comes on in conventional it should not start smoke.
There could be some wire interference causing a weak DCS signal with the engine. Some others have reported this behavior with PS-3. G
If you're turning on 14 engines at once, it's possible that either you're causing an issue by drawing too much power or the engine is missing the watchdog signal in all the electronic noise.
Try removing a few engines and see if the problem is gone.
I tried a few things today. I moved the suspect engine to another part of the system. I am using all 4 of the TIU outputs to power a different section of the system. Where this RK engine is located originally is powered by a 50W supply. I moved it to a portion where it is powered by a 180w supply. It seemed to work correctly. In doing this, I had moved another PS3 engine in the 50W area and it had the same issues on power up as the RK. So what Barry said is probably what is happening. Not enough power. I have another 180W supply that I have not hooked up yet as I need to get some connectors parts. When this is hooked up, I will have 3 180w and one 100w powering the system.
When you power up, how many engines are on the active track? Barry is right.
No more than 5 on any one TIU channel but this problem has occurred when there were only 3 engines on a channel. All 4 TIU channels are coming on and they are all set to fixed.
