No need to go outside in the cold. Let's do some railfanning in the comfort of our own basements and attics:

Leading the charge: Postwar Lackawanna FM Trainmaster and 623 Santa Fe Switcher.

Now we can share our railfanning with each other from home. Arnold

Horseshoe Curve Live Feed

GunrunnerJohn, your video of the Horseshoe  Curve reminds me of fishing. You may have to wait a very long time before anything thrilling happens. That's one reason I fished for a very short time and stopped 20 years ago.

I think I prefer Railfanning from home more than Railfanning with real trains.

Now if only model train manufacturers could make the floor tremble and shake in our basements and attics when we experience all the train sounds and smoke there.  Common, Lionel and MTH, you can do it!  LOL, Arnold

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many trains a day on average pass through Horseshoe Curve?  If there is such a thing as an "average" day there.

Mike:  it’s around 60 or so trains every 24 hours; not counting helper sets running light through the curve.

Dick and Gunrunner John, thanks for mentioning the live feeds on YouTube for real railfanning. I had no idea that such live feeds existed.

I just visited Virtual Railfan live feeds on YouTube, as Dick suggested. Although not a live feed, I saw a YouTube video there showing real trains plowing through heavy snow. That was spectacular. The snow would fly high in the air, almost as if an avalanche was coming at you. Arnold

It was beautiful when I took this video along the tracks on the western side of the Hudson River.

CSX diesel oil tanker freight train passing West Point and heading to points North:

LOL, Arnold

PS: I pulled out the little hair I had left on top of my head getting that Lionel signal bridge to work using the original weight bearing triggering device.

How thrilling! On the eastern side of the Hudson River, the earth trembled as a New York Cental lightning striped passenger train roared by:

Along the Hudson is a great place for railfanning, where you can see freight and passenger service, and the scenery is breathtaking. I was so swept away by the trains, I forgot to take photos of the magestic river.

LOL, Arnold

PS: Soon I'll be railfanning and posting video of trains along the Delaware River in the great State of Pennsylvania, so stay tuned here.
