The web site http://www.modelrailway-online.com/rc-truck-scale/ shows what I think is an amazing video of a RC controlled truck in 1/48 scale being run on a layout where it first goes to a weigh station then drives up to be loaded with coal with a working conveyer belt and then driving back to the weigh station and then departing.

I would love to either buy or build a truck like that for a layout I am currently building.  After doing many google searches and also making an inquiry to the above web site I have come up with nothing.  I am a bit puzzled about there being almost nothing on RC controlled 1/43 or 1/48 vehicles.  There are a few 1/43 size racing cars but nothing else.  Can someone point me to a resource that has something on this topic.

Thanks so much,

Conrad

I have seen that scale but not in RC. They have that silly wire running to them from the battery pack. I used to have some RC cars. I'm guessing to use on a layout they would have to be really geared down. It is a great idea. I'm curious to see if someone posts that they are available. I would be interested in adding to my layput.

I bought a couple of RC vehicles about two years ago -- a panel van that was very scale 1:43 and a little mini cooper that was small but not really 1:43 - it was about the size of the 1:43 van and thus about  1:30.  I have no recollection who made them.  They were pretty cheaply made - just thing plastic, flimsy gears, etc.,  and very little metal, but they did perform well enough.  I tried 'driving' them around the layout but it proved difficult.  Most of the problem with them was that they were geared like toys, for very high (unrealistic) speeds.  I put them away and am not sure where they are; if I can find them I will copy the manufacturer's name, etc., off any identification and post it here.

Thanks for the responses.  The last link had imbedded in it the video I referenced above and the discussion seems to indicate that a Corgi Vanguard Morris Commercial model was modified to have power and RC control.  The site has a few pictures of how he did it which are helpful in getting started.  Now I need to find one of those trucks!
